Hoensbroek Castle has been acclaimed the most beautiful castle in the Netherlands. Thanks to Chapters' award-winning campaign for Hoensbroek Castle, they also won the prize for 'best museum'. To make the castle the most visited castle in the Netherlands, Chapters designed an interactive experience for children in the attic of the castle, making the castle more attractive to visit for families with children.

Schild(er) je Verhaal —
an interactive experience for children
in a Limburg castle

Our award-winning campaign
for Hoensbroek Castle
claimed the prize for 'best museum'

How do we create an experience for children in a castle?
How do we keep the attention of this audience while they receive information at the same time?
In the strategy we looked at how we could make the highlighted period, the age of chivalry, attractive to children. We also looked at how children today like to learn and receive information. The result is a digital, interactive experience in which the old and the new world come together.

An interactive experience
speaks to the imagination

The age of chivalry is characterized by weapons, shields, and swords.
‘Schild(er) je Verhaal’ is a unique, interactive way to teach children about weapons.
We created an interactive digital game in which children can choose their own knight in the game, and colour the colours of their own weapon on a paper shield, which then comes to life via a scan on the knight's shield on the digital screen. A unique way to bring physical and digital elements together in an experience for children.

In the creation of your concept,
your visitor is always the starting point

The exhibition space, the attic, is furnished with exhibits with written text, on which the story of the age of chivalry comes to life. The exhibits are written, designed, and illustrated by Chapters in an authentic style that fits within the overall branding of the castle.
